What is the YOGA ASANA ?

Yoga Asana which is also called Asana in our language is a Sanskrit word which in English is called “Yoga asana” which means physical asana, which is designed to improve physical, mental and spiritual well-being. It is an essential part of yoga and one of the eight poses described in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali.

How many poses in yoga asana ?

Patanjali’s Yoga Sutra consists of 8 yoga asanas. 84 asanas are mentioned in the 10th and 11th century Goraksh Shatak and the 15th century Hatha Yoga Pradipika , and a separate list of 84 asanas is also found in the 17th century Hatha Ratnavali . but to make your practice more interesting there are 108 yoga asanas designed by today’s yoga gurus. While travelling, at home, yoga has been made easier and today’s yoga asanas have a super coding system based on anatomy and asana names in Sanskrit/English.
